PCIE Notebook Computer
PCIE Notebook Computer In this article I hope to clarify some of the questions people have about PCIe (PCI Express) and most importantly the technology in laptops. What is PCIE? Usually when someone talks with me about purchasing a pcie computer they have probably heard something about pcie and graphics cards. Someone told them pcie graphics cards are better than AGP graphics cards. Pcie graphics cards are much faster, cooler and even use less energy. I could give you specifics about serial links, lanes and bandwidth but really what would that accomplish ? The important thing is to know it is better. Now whether or not you need better graphics is a personal decision based on what you do with your computer. If you are in the market for a new computer you are definitely better off getting a motherboard that supports pcie so you can get a pcie graphics card and use things which demand the pcie interface. Soon pcie will be the most common computer expansion card interface format. - Unfortunately a pcie card will not work in a pci slot. Sorry.
- With a desktop it is easier to get pcie cards to work just replace the motherboard or buy a new pc. No biggie they are not expensive. Later on I'll show you where to get a great computer cheap. It is a place only computer folks know about.
- With a notebook or laptop it is more difficult. First of all there is some confusion around the exact definition of what is and isn’t a pcie notebook computer. For instance most notebooks have pcie technology usually a wireless card or something so they may advertise it as a pcie notebook, but unfortunately it may not be what you expect.
So how do I know if the notebook I am getting is really has pcie interfaces and graphics? More importantly will it have the pcie graphics card so you can watch youtube videos, run CAD or play World of Warcraft. Since I have told you what it is and that you may need it here are a few sites so you can be sure you are getting what you are looking for. ALWAYS BE INFORMED !!
